Our Story – Vows
Part Five
Doug and I recently celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary as well as our 10 years together anniversary (yes, we totally still celebrate boyfriend/girlfriend dates- because more anniversaries = more dessert!!)
So lucky we are and so many memories we’ve shared if feels like we’ve been in love and married for a lifetime, not just 8 years. Thinking back, it always amazes me how so many little things had to align in order for us to cross each other’s path at the perfect time. So I thought a great way to celebrate would be to relive our beginnings and tell you a little more on how we became “us”!
Everyone has a story. This is ours…

A. As Doug bent down on one knee in our newly painted room that night, I don’t remember exactly what he said! I only remember that somehow in my shock and extreme excitement, I was able to muster enough braincells to say YES!!
True to our style thus far…we didn’t want to wait long to say our vows!
A few months later, as I zipped up my white dress, all I could think is how Doug and I could have easily missed each other along the way. How unlikely it was that our timing lined up perfectly, so we were both ready to give a new love a chance. How amazing it was that I get to love a man who truly feels like my other half, my best friend…my truest partner in life…and how blessed I was that he loved me just as much in return.
On a sunny Florida afternoon, we made promises to each other in front of our dear family and friends. We vowed to be there for one another when things in our life were great and when they were tough. To respect each other and be true to our marriage. To be kind and patient even when we don’t want to be. To be supportive of each other’s dreams and goals. To pick each other up when one of us needed it. To be partners in life and to love one another with all our heart.
8 years later, we have been so true to those words. There have been countless happy memories and some really hard moments that have made us hold on to each other making us stronger. We have laughed and cried together, followed each other’s dreams and gone on so many adventures together. Of course, the biggest and most awesome of those adventure was having two beautiful babies and building a family together….
I could have never imagined that by walking through that door one random morning, my life would be changed forever….but I’m so glad it did.
